Captain's Blog !
Congratulations to the Junior Members of Gullane Golf Club who competed in last week’s US Kids Championships. For those of you who played on No. 3 you perhaps did not realise that you were part of history as this last weekend the Club celebrated the Centenary of the opening of the course. I am sure that our forefathers who a hundred years ago decided to build the course would have been very proud to think that you were out there competing against some of the best junior golfers in the world!
As I watched some of you playing great golf in the fantastic summer sunshine (for which as Captain I claim full credit) I realised just what talented golfers you are and just how poor my golf is. I am now beginning to wonder if I should become the first non-playing Captain of Gullane Golf Club!
Again, well done to all but as you move on to many more competitions in the coming weeks can I urge you to remember that at GGC speed of play is an important part of our game. I am sure that you realise that the speed of play in the US Kids Championships is not the speed for Gullane members!
I hope you all have a great summer of golf. Remember while trying to play your best that golf is a game to enjoy!
