ELJ Championships 2010 CSS's & Scores

Written by David Warren

The 2010 East Lothian Junior Championships, sponsored by East Lothian Council, were held at Royal Musselburgh Golf Club on Friday the 13th August. The scores will appear below shortly. The excellent scoring suggests the course was in fine condition. Thanks must go to Willie Rodgers and all the staff at RMGC for looking after the 86 competitors - the highest ever for the event. Thanks also to Nicky Black and Andrew Needen for assisting throughout the day. The CSS's for the competitions were as follows:-

Boys U18 36 hole Championship CSS - 70 in each round, AM and PM.

Girls Championships - CSS 72.

Boys U14 Championship - CSS - 69.

Boys U12 Championship - CSS 67. (Off Ladies' Tees.)

Please note - a survey was taken of the U18 boys to see how many owned Distance Measuring Devices. There were 4 who did, and 34 who did not. This is evidence that not allowing the use of DMDs in our competitions is justified at present. Leading scores appear are on the ELJL website

Excellent scoring - well done to all - some excellent play - congrats to the Gullane prizewinners ( whether playing for Gullane or otherwise ! ) - Sarah , Katherine , Clara ( 1st Scratch Girl ) and Rachel in the girls  and Chales & Edward Cave with Charles winning the family battle and coming home with the U18 Handicap Championship with 132 but Edward also picking up a prize - they are now known as "the Mexican Caves" !
