2011 NORTH BERWICK CHILDREN’S GOLF COURSE COMPETITIONS

July

July competitions will be organised by Kathryn Smith.   Please telephone The Starter on 892666

for times and if withdrawing on the last day before the competition please telephone 892341.

August

From 15^th July onwards Anne Littlefair will be organising August competitions.   Please telephone The Starter on 892666

for times and if withdrawing on the last day before the competition please telephone 892239.

Notes for Parents

To comply with child & adult protection policy regulations, you are required to contact the Managing Secretary, Mr. Christopher Spencer, on 895040 if you do not wish your child to be photographed should they win a competition.

ALL competitors MUST submit two scorecards prior to their first competition.

Please include name, age, and telephone number on the cards.

Please put the cards in the letterbox of the shed on the Children’s Course.

Children under 8 years are not suited to knockout competitions.   The oldest entrants will be allocated places first because of the number restrictions.

1                     All competitions, except knockouts, are open to those aged under 14 on 1^st July 2011.

2                     Competitions played according to Rules of Royal and Ancient Golf Club, and Local Rules (to be found on back of card for the course).  In case of dispute the Committee’s decision is FINAL.

3              a)            Maximum number of players for Balfour-Melville Cup and Esmond Cup – 64

b)                   Maximum number for other competitions - 80

4         There will be an entry fee of £1.50 for each competition payable on the day.

5         A reserve list will, if necessary, be made for all competitions.  The organisers will do their best to give everyone a game.  Late entries can only be accepted if space allows.

6         Starting times will be posted at the Children’s Course on Wednesdays by 18.00 hrs.  For children out of town starting times can be requested from the Starter’s Lodge, West Links (01620 892666).  Children are expected to report to the Starter at the Children’s Course ten minutes before their tee-off time on competition days.

7          Please complete the attached entry form and return as soon as possible to Anne Littlefair, The North Berwick Golf Club, Beach Road, North Berwick, EH39 4BB.

The purpose of all the competitions is primarily for the enjoyment of the children.  We do, however, hope that by competing the children will learn the rudiments of the game of golf.  Our markers do their best to help and guide them on the day.  The co-operation and support of parents is much appreciated and we would welcome any that could assist in marking or some other capacity on the day.  Parents are allowed to caddy for children under the age of eight.  We try to wean children off a caddy as soon as possible but if there are special circumstances please talk to Anne or Kathryn beforehand.   We look forward to meeting you all this summer.

THESE ARE FANTASTIC COMPETITIONS - GREAT FOR THOSE STARTING OUT AND IDEAL FOR THOSE ALREADY PLAYING AND LOOKING TO BUIKD THEIR SKILLS - PARTICULARLY SHORT GAME .
