Many congratulations to Rachael and Clara - both of whom
are also members of Gullane Ladies with Rachael having
played for Gullane Juniors last year and regularly to be seen
practising at Gullane  and Clara a regular competitor in our
Junior events despite playing for the NB Junior Team !

Both played and did well at the Scottish Ladies
Championship at Machrihanish last week with Rachael
losing in the QF v the eventual winner Louise Kenney and
Clara qualifying for the matchplay and losing in Round 2
to Curtis Cup reserve Kelsey MacDonald.

Rachael on the extreme left of this group of leading
prizewinners
at the "Scottish," is unlikely to play in
another Scottish women's
amateur championship nor
Women's Home Internationals for the next four
years.

That's because the 18-year-old, one of Scotland's
leading female prospects, has accepted a four-year
golf scholarship at Denver University, Colorado
where former English girls champion Ellie Givens from
Darlington and Sarah Faller from Galway, Ireland have
been on the golf roster.

Ellie has completed her four-year course - and Rachael,
the No 2 seed at Machrihanish before she lost in the
quarter-finals to champion-to-be Louise Kenney has
most probably been signedup to take her place. Rachael
will enrol at Denver before the end of August.
