Gleneagles - clubgolf Outing

On a glorious spring day, 12 junior members and clubgolfers went up to Gleneagles to play the “Wee Course”.

They used the fantastic practice facilities first – and everyone enjoyed the chance to rehearse their pitching and bunker shots.  Ian Rowlands the Assistant Pro from Gullane GC with special responsibilities for the juniors, came along to lead the practice session and offer advice and support on the course.   

3 teams of four played a challenging par 3 course on a 4 ball better ball format.  Ian decided on a sudden death chipping competition as the scores were so close – but no winner was officially declared! 

Many thanks to Ian Rowlands and the parent helpers who gave up much of their Sunday – Jason, Jonathan, Gill and Julie. Thanks also to clubgolf and Gleneagles for giving us this fantastic opportunity which can only enhance the kids' interest in golf.  


The next step for these kids is to sign up to forthcoming 6 week blocks of Level 2 clubgolf coaching being run by Ian Rowlands and the other Assistant  Pros at Gullane in May & June.  Level 1 stage 1 & 2 coaching for Gullane kids is already on the go for 2011 , running to full capacity with a happy band of volunteer coaches led by Andy Walker. We are now in our 7th year of clubgolf at Gullane , where we have 136 junior members including 30 girls.
