Week- end Round Up

You thought the season was over but you thought wrong ! Its been a very busy week-end and here is a results round-up

Our winter league pairing of Jamie Black and Michael Williams suffered a 3 and 2 defeat at Longniddry. The men's team also lost. Dunbar at home next Sunday.

David Drysdale of Dunbar came third in the Madrid Masters on the European Tour winning 93,600E with rounds of 66,65,69 and 67 ( 21 under )

Lara and Sarah represented Gullane at the Queens Course at Gleneagles in the Dunfermline Building Society Junior Masters Final. A hard day at the office but I am sure they enjoyed it. Gabrielle McDonald of Craigielaw won the girls event with an excellent score. Finn Donaldson and Gary Brownlee also competed for  North Berwick and Tantallon

Lesley Atkins , representing the Borders, came 6th in the SLGA Champions of Champions at Gailes , against some of the best lady golfers in Scotland.  Again a very hard day at the office, Lesley shot 84 with the winning score and the CSS being 80.

Details of these last  two events on Kirkwood Golf

Lloyd Saltman of Archerfield came second following  a play-off in the PGA Europro Event at Fairmont St Andrews winning  £5,000.
I played in the Europro event at St Andrews this week.  Finishing second after missing out in a play off.  After the first day I was lying 2nd with a 4 under par, 3 under par the next day saw me lying 3rd.  The weather conditions on the final day were very tough, with gusty winds.  Finishing on 4 under I was tied first.  We both parred the first hole but after the 2nd play off hole my putt lipped out to loose.   It was a decent week but a bit of a disappointig finish.  It felt realy good to be in contention in a tournament again.

The final of The Morrison Trophy between James Fisher and Fraser Thain also took place today on No1 and full report to follow

A number of our members were also being assessed for intensive Lothians Golf Association coaching - hopefully a few will have got into the coaching squads for the winter - if not don't worry - we'll structure some coaching at Gullane to get us ready for next season.

Next Sunday we have the Winter League fixture v Dunbar and the first winter Stableford on No2 @ 12 Noon  - I'll see if I can arrange some hot soup in the Members Clubhouse to warm everyone up . It is the first event in the winter stableford competition so a full turnout would be good. Even though it is stableford format it will count for handicaps.

There is also the County Cup the following week. See East Lothian League website for details
