Away draw at Tantallon

We nearly stole a win at Tantallon but Gary B held his nerve to slot a 4 ft birdie putt on 18 to deny Graham Swan a half and  us the victory. Solid win for Thomas Simmonds and Jamie dug deep to ovecome younger player giving 7 shots. Olly Ladbrooke was outstanding for a 1 hole win over Ross Wilson - chipping dead for birdie at the last to close him out.  Quality stuff and an excellent outcome against decent Tantallon side.

One way of drawing yourself to the attention of the Lothian’s selector’s and the coaching committee is to perform consistently in Open tournaments particularly those qualifying for Order of Merit points.

The boys Order of Merit is operated on a three yearly rota system with approximately 12 clubs being involved each year. The qualifying events are marked on the Lothian’s fixture lists and booklet and on the website.

The top ten players in each event score points as follows with points shared equally if there are ties –

A running total is kept and advertised at the counting events. At the end of the season the top ten players are awarded vouchers.

This year the Stephen Gallacher Foundation has also nominated the Lothians OOM as a counting event on its ‘Road to Dunbar’. Leading players will be invited to a grand final at Dunbar GC on the 30th September 2012.  In addition the SG Foundation will be taking a note of the U15 scores (Players under 15 years of age on 1st January 2012) and will be compiling an U15 Order of Merit which will also serve as a qualifying event in the ‘Road to Dunbar’ along with a Girls OOM. Updates on the Order of Merits will appear after each event on the Lothians website

If you require any further information on the Order of Merit then please contact me. Have a good season and if you do I will see you at Dunbar in September.
