Gullane fell at the final hurdle on Friday in the County Cup at Haddington - dashing their hopes for a glorious treble of East Lothian Junior League championships this year.
The team came through their morning semi - final against Royal Musselburgh on the back of Rachael and Lesley being 11 up against the the the Royal Muss scratch pairing ! Great golf !
Craigielaw overcame North Berwick in the other semi-final.
The girls continued their fine form in the afternoon but suffered a three hole pinsplitting birdie blitz from Grant Forrest and Greig Smail from the 2nd to the 4th to go three down and never quite got onto level terms despite themselves being 3-under the men's par against a 5-under 5 * performance from the boys when the match came to an end at the 16th with them 2 down.
Our handicap pairing of Greg and Duncan never really got going all day .... nuff said.
So near but so far - but congratulations to all the team squad for a fantastic year and special congratulations to Gordon for his immense contribution to the successes of the team. We are the County Strokeplay Champions and the League Winners after all - no mean feat !!
