Scottish Golf Union Junior Tour 2011 - Format and Selection Criteria

The Scottish Golf Union has been running a Junior Tour for Under 18 players since 2004.  The
purpose of this tour is
 To provide leading Scottish Boys (Under 18 years of age) with  additional high quality
competitive play
 To provide SGU coaching staff and selectors an opportunity to assess players and their
development over challenging courses that require the full range of shots to be played and
in the same conditions as would prevail in major competitions
 To provide an appropriate competition structure and added incentive for U18 players to
pursue higher honours

2011 Junior Tour Format

Junior Tour 1 26 & 27 March  Arbroath 30 players (54 holes)
Junior Tour 2 21 & 22 May Rowallan Castle 39 players (72 holes)
Junior Tour 3 11 & 12 June  Cardrona 39 players (72 holes)

Entry to all the strokeplay events will be by invitation only with points counting towards WAGR

Invited players will be chosen by the Boys Selection Committee from the following nominations:
 SGU  Boys Squad
 SGU Academy players – nominated by their Coaches
 3 places from the Scottish Golf Union Winter Series (best 3 from 4 scores)
 Top 8 from Scottish Boys who are not already included in the above
 Players either nominated by their Areas or Selectors as a result of early season outstanding
performance

Following  Junior Tour Event 1, the top 15 players and ties will be retained for the next event and
invitations issued to other nominated players from the above pool.

Following Junior Tour Event 2, the top 15 players and ties will be retained and invitations issued to
other nominated players from the above pool.

Selectors will be at all Junior Tour events in addition to other SGU events over the season.
Every player participating in the Junior Tour will therefore be considered for National Team selection
and for National Squad Selection.
