clubgolf Junior Masters Qualifying @ Gullane 2011

The Junior Masters is one of Scotland's largest and most exciting junior golf tournament for U16 (as at 1 Jan 2011) boys and girls.

Last year's girls winner was our very own Charlotte Munro at Renaissance where we had four finalists overall with Graham Swan and the family double of Sarah & Jack Dunlop also qualifying from the Regional Final at Glencorse.

Participants who qualify at club level with go forward to compete in one of four regional finals staged across the country during the summer holidays

Whitecraigs, 12 July
Loch Ness , 21 July
Turnhouse , 2 August Loudoun Gowf , 9 August

Handicap Limit: 28 (boys), 36 (girls)

The qualifying events at Gullane will be as follows

Girls - 29th May - No 3 ( also Qualifying for u14 Championship which girls can play in ) - two leading handicap scores

Boys - leading handicap score at each of Medal on No1 on 22nd May and Medal on No3 on 29th May

Only those with home club as Gullane may qualify from Gullane - time to change now if you want !!

Grand Final - 3rd October - Gleneagles

1 HAVE A GO ON THE KIDS COURSE WITH YOUR PARENTS, GRANDPARENTS, BROTHERS OR SISTERS OR FRIENDS

2 TAKE PART IN CLUBGOLF COACHING

3 GET A PERMIT FOR NO 3 AND ASK YOUR PARENTS, GRANDPARENTS OR FRIENDS ETC TO TAKE YOU OUT FOR A GAME

4 IF YOU LIKE COMPETITIONS PLAY IN WEE WONDERS, THE KIDS COMPETITIONS AT NORTH BERWICK KIDS COURSE AND THE CLUBGOLF COMPETITIONS

5 APPLY TO JOIN GULLANE GOLF CLUB OR GULLANE LADIES GOLF CLUB SO THAT YOU CAN GET A HANDICAP AND PLAY IN CLUB COMPETITIONS AND JUNIOR OPENS

The clubgolf coaching programme has been running in Gullane for 5 years now, enthusiastically backed by a band of 12 volunteer coaches and both Gullane GC and Gullane Ladies GC who provide support and facilities. It is introduced through Gullane Primary School with every child in P5 taking part in firstclubgolf with plastic clubs and then those who are interested progressing to the real thing with regular coaching from the volunteers as well as from Gullane GC pro Alasdair Good and team. Coaching take place on Sunday at 4.15 pm for those in P5 / P6 with the pros taking over for those in P7 and beyond and running sessions on Mondays and Friday afternoons. We currently have nearly 50 children in the programme aged from 9 -14 with just as many boys as girls . Various competitions and trips are also organised including events at Craigielaw South Course, North Berwick Kids Course, Dalmahoy, Gleneagles and Muirfield for the Senior's Open in 2007.

East Lothian Council fully supports this initiative and employs Kate Green as Junior Golf Development Manager.
