Gullane Juniors - Round Up - June 2011

2.      The Blog

Loads of information is on this blog and it is updated regularly - http://gullanejuniorgolf.blogspot.com/. There is also a load of information to be found down the right had column and in the archives. You may also follow the blog by inserting your email address in the Follow by Email box and you'll get an email with the latest postings - simples!!


3.      Junior Championships

These come to a conclusion at the week-end with Q/Fs , Semis and Final of the Boys U18 and Semis & Finals of U14s. The Girls Final has been held over due to Clara playing for GB&I under 16s - wow!  She'll take on Lesley at a later date. Good luck to those playing this week-end - follow it on the blog or check the Junior Notice board.

4.      Team

The team sits top of the League with 4.5 points out of 5 - next up will be Tantallon in July - business end coming up!!  Details on blog or http://www.eastlothianjuniorgolf.org.uk/index.htm.  


5.      Morrison Trophy

Pamela is doing a great job in keeping this on track - if still in please watch the noticeboard and co-operate as best you can in ensuring the efficient progress of this worthwhile event – it is great to play the games with your fellow juniors – big and small!

6.      Under 14 Match v The Glen - Friday 24th June

Nicky Black is sorting the team for this and it will be published on the blog soon

7.      Fun Foursomes - 22 June

Nicky & Pamela with assiatance from our Junior Captains Lara & Greig are planning a fun event for our younger more recent members - boys & girls - to get them introduced to the club in the evening on Wed 22 June - contact Nicky black.nicky@googlemail.com if interested - details to follow.

8.      The Babe Zaharias Trophy – Gullane Primary School

This took place on Friday 10th June and results will be announced by Mrs T at the next Gullane PS assembly! Some great scoring in both 18 hole and 6 hole comps - see blog post below !! 

9.      Clubgolf

Going well - kids enjoying coaching and hopefully more to take place over the summer with pros.

10.    Summer Coaching plans

More coaching planned for Gullane Juniors to follow on from classes taken by Ian R , Emma & Mark - watch this space - to cover others too.  See details of Mark’s Summer Golf School below for you or any younger kids.

15.    Junior Opens

A complete list of East Lothian and Lothians Boys and Girls Junior Opens for 2011 are now listed under "events."  on the East Lothian League website.  Several are marked "OOM" indicating these events will count for the Lothians Order of Merit from which list, as the season progresses, representative Teams will be chosen. Have a look at these and plan your season well in advance.


There are entry forms for most Junior Opens on the SGU website, or there is a format available to you to copy on our EL site under "Junior Opens."

16.    SLGA/SGU competitions - U14 Scottish Championships Aberdour

Please check the SLGA and SGU websites for national competitions inc the U14 Championships at Aberdour (Fife) on 11/12 August.

 19.    Webster Trophy

Annual match with Gullane Seniors - 8.30am  7th July for tee off 9.24am on No 1 - I need a team of sociable juniors aged 12-18 for this - volunteers required - please email me ir.mclean@yahoo.co.uk.  Good fun morning  and the seniors are very enthusiastic and hospitable.  Craig Spinks is the holder of the Webster Trophy.

20.    clubgolf Junior masters

Our qualifiers are Lara & Charlotte and Graham & Olly and they will go forward to the Regional Finals at Turnhouse/Whitecraigs in Glasgow.
