GULLANE GOLF SHORTS !

Congratulations to Craig Spinks on winning the Webster Trophy on Monday with a grand total of 41 stableford points round No 1. Congratulations too to his playing partner Jim Mansell who must be doubly congratulated for steering him round the full circuit and over the finishing line - new territory for Young Spinks - an unusual but great feeling no doubt ?! Craig is well known for the quality of his chat on the golf course and he proved the point with his thank -you speech ;-( . Many thanks to Archie and the Seniors - much enjoyed by all.

  1. Thank you for these kind words Mr Manager. Admittedly, my speech was the same as my golf has been this year (more bad than good, hopefully the more I win,the better I’ll get!) ;-), so I’d like to take this opportunity to improve on it in this blog.
I’d like to thank my partner Jim for having to steer me round the course and still being able to score 41 points! Imagine how we would have scored if I’d contributed Jim ;-). The first hole set the pattern for the rest of the round. I drove and managed to keep it on the fairway, Jim put our second to within 12 feet of the pin and I was lucky enough to hole the putt for a birdie. So it continued.
I’d also like to thank Archie, the rest of Seniors and the rest of the Juniors for taking the time to play the competition and making it an enjoyable day for all. I’d also like to thank all the staff at Gullane Golf Club, we sometimes take for granted the fantastic facilities we have at Gullane, but we are definitely spoiled when it comes to the condition of the courses.
