Modest turn-out due to exams and stuff on elsewhere but some great golf ! Very well done Olly - gross 74 net 66 to win medal - brilliant ! H/c reduced too. Gross 72 ( 2 under par  4 under CSS !! ) from Clara too and handicap reductions for Graeme & Craig too. No 1 in fantastic shape and it seems like the summer has arrived !

What fantastic scoring - imagine having a net 57 and coming third by 10 shots ! Is 47 a record ?? 7 getting their handicaps reduced - substantially !!

Cameron Douglas, Roslyn Griffiths, Conner Liddell, Rory Napier, Catherine Walker and an other also did 6 holes.

Two clubgolfer Archie Anderson and Lewis Munro also did 18 holes !! 

Rohan Chapman-Liddell, Jamie Wallace, Jed Clements, Hannah McKie, James Clark and  Gregor Griffiths all put in 18 hole cards for handicap. James who has just joined has been given a handicap of 24 and Hannah will be getting hers. Remember 3 cards required - one in a medal, two signed by other members

Junior Medal - 22 May 2011

Modest turnout on No 1 due to very windy weather and exams but fantastic winning score from Graham Swan - gross 76 less 8 = 68 !! CSS 72 despite conditions - certainly not a Mickey Mouse test of golf. Fine reward for Graham who has been very committed to his golf and is in great form with h/c coming down further to 7. He qualifies for the clubgolf Junior Masters Regional Final at Turnhouse on 2nd August.

Other scores to follow once I sort technical glitches.

May Medals

22 May - No1 

The next Medal for boys and girls is on No1 on Sunday 22 May @ 12noon - please register in advance with the Starter 01620 843115 or  and please turn up early to help us.

The leading Under 16 boy (having Gullane as home club) will qualify for the next round of the clubgolf Junior Masters.

It also counts for the Scratch OoM - the Race to Muirfield !

29 May - No 3 


This medal is also open to all  - again please turn up early and register in advance with the Starter - 843766

It will comprise

1. Qualifying round for Under 14 Championship - open to boys and girls U14 as at 1/1/2011 - the leading scratch scores will qualify

2. Qualifier for clubgolf Junior Masters - best two handicap scores from U16 girls and the best handicap score from one U16 boy ( having Gullane as home club ) will qualify.

Pre-handicap players - 29 May 

Those who do not yet have handicap can use this as an opportunity to submit a card for 18 holes . If anyone wants to play only 6 holes this is OK but we would appreciate help with parental supervision - please let Nicky or me know ( ir.mclean@yahoo.co.uk).

Family Tea on 29 May

If anyone would like to go in to the Members Clubhouse for family tea after the medal on 29 May please email Stephen Marshall - the Clubhouse Manager on clubhousemanager@gullanegolfclub.com by Wednesday 25th May to book your slot. Mums and dads and bothers and sisters welcome !  There will be a a reasonably priced menu available.

Coaching

We have three coaching groups groups going just now - Dirleton Castle is fully supporting their junior members with sessions on Thursday afternoons with Mark Bruce and GGC and GLGC are supporting two groups on Friday afternoons for girls and 12 /13 yo boys with Emma Fairnie and Ian Rowlands.  Ian is also very supportive of our table-topping team - with pre-match sessions before each fixture. More coaching to follow - please let me have any feedback / requests

A great turn out for this extra stableford - and some fantastic scoring from some of our younger players - well done Harry - great to see you coming along and doing well !!

Great too to see 6 girls playing in the comp and 3 others playing too - Annabel , Rosie and Kirsten. Annabel had a "Kevin Na" on the last but otherwise enjoyed doing her first complete 18 holes !! Was that the first 18 for Kirsten too ?

Please also remember to bring warm clothing and wet weather gear. And to telephone starter in advance to advise playing

We've arranged an extra fun competition on Thursday 21st on  No3 with

followed by stableford on either No3 at 3pm - stableford allows you to have a bad score or two without ruining the whole round

Stableford Singles

Full handicap with strokes deducted at each hole according to the Stroke Index of the course. 1 point for a net bogey ( 1over par ) , 2 points for a net par , 3 points for a net birdie, 4 points for a net eagle, 5 points for a net albatross and 6 points - you are having me on ! 

It counts for handicap. Enter scores in computer after your round. 

There will be a * 6 hole option with Nicky Black organising adult supervision - parents welcome too if around. Please e-mail Nicky if you intend to play 6 holes only. ( black.nicky@gmail.com ) - don't be shy - the 6 holers really enjoyed it last time !
