Junior Summer Meeting - Sunday 14th August 2011 / Medal Tuesday 16th August

The Junior Summer Meeting will take place on Sunday 14th August with three trophies on offer

Girls - Robertson Durham Salver - No 3 12noon - Nicky has already e-mailed the girls . Holder Rachael McAnany.

Boys - Captains' Trophy - No2 - 12 noon - this new trophy kindly presented by GGC past Captains will be run on a handicap stableford basis. Maximum handicap is 28 ( although some of the younger boys with lower handicaps may prefer to play in the Holiday Trophy ) . Holder Edward Cave.

Boys - Holiday Trophy - No3 - 12 noon - this trophy will also be run on a handicap stableford basis and is for our younger members and higher handicappers. Anyone playing for handicap may also play. Holder James Fox.

6 hole option - if any younger member ( girl or boy ) would like to play 6 holes please let us know. We will need parental support to accompany them.

Longest Drive and Nearest Pin Competitions - will also be held on each course - donations for prizes welcome !

Everyone ( players and families ) is invited to use the Members Clubhouse after the golf. Refreshments for kids and adults will be available in the front bar - please remember two easy rules - no golf shoes and no jeans !! Juice and crisps will be available for the kids and you will be able to order food from the snack menu.

There will be a Presentation of the three Trophies and other prizes at approximately 4.30 – 5.00pm depending on when everyone is finished and cards processed.  Everyone is invited to stay or return for this. If the weather is good it will be outside otherwise the mixed lounge upstairs.

Convenors' Challenge - no NRs from anyone in the Summer Meeting !!

We have capacity for over 50 Junior Golfers in these competitions – let’s make full use of it and have a great day ! New members and those we haven’t seen much of this year particularly welcome. Please ring the Starter No2 / No3 on 843766 to confirm your attendance and to specify which course so that cards can be made up in advance. Please turn up in good time.

Junior Summer Meeting - Sunday 8th August "Foxes Cave"

We held a very successful Junior Summer Meeting on Sunday !! 35 golfers turned out including 8 girls.

The girls played on No3 for the Robertson Durham Salver which was won by Rachael McAnany , with last year's winner Lara Frostwick in second, and Charlotte Munro aqnd Katherine Bryce sharing third. Congratulations too to Catherine Small and Anna Fox who also played - Anna suffering a traumatic 16th and 17th !! Well done too to Rosie O'Riordan and Annabel McLean who played a cart assisted 9 holes !!

The boys on No 3 were playing for the newly donated Holiday Cup and on No 2 the older boys were played for the soon to be donated Captains' Trophy

James Fox played a tremendous round on No 3 scoring 48 stableford points , followed by Eddie Blundell on 44 and then Graeme Chalmers and Freddie Neden on 38 and 37 respectively

Well done all but particularly James !

On No 2 there was exceptionally fine play - see points scores below - with the Captains' Trophy being captured by Edward Cave with 43 points followed by Alasdair Neden and Graham Swan with 41 points. Mention should be made of other fine scores by Michael Williams 73 and Peter Legget 72
