Team Match 5 v The Glen - 12th June
Challenging day at the office for our team on Sunday away to a competitive young team from The Glen. We took along two reserves who looked the part and enjoyed their games with Jack winning by 2 holes and Adam battling away before losing on 17th
In the handicap matches, Lara eased to victory in the all girls match v Maggie Goodlad but both Graham and debutant Tom Middlemass couldn't find enough to overcome the 12 and 10 shot advantages held by their younger opponents , though taking it to the 17th and 18th respectively. - no shame there. In the lead scratch match Greg also eased to victory against Neil Bowden and Scott continued his fine form with a 4&3 victory over Gullane resident Nicky Thomson - shot of the day being a chip-in for a par three after a visit to the beach on the famous 13th. This all left attention focussed on the second scratch match but Michael was just not able to secure the vital half against 13 year old Lewis Reid from Glasgow who gave away length advantage but was very steady. Michael had par and birdeie putts on 17 and 18 to make the difference, but the one on 18 agonisingly lipped out ....
Match result 3 -3 - a half point dropped but still top of the league
Greg Houlston defeated Neil Bowden 3&2
Michael Williams lost to Lewis Reid 1 hole
Scott Gillies defeated Nicky Thomson 4&3
Graham Swan lost to Lewis Edgar 2&1
Tom Middlemass lost to Kieran Floyd 1 hole
Lara Frostwick defeated Maggie Goodlad 5&3
Reserves
Adam Munro losdt to Murdo Lunn 2&1
Jack Dunlop defeated Ricardo Cuchi 2up
Well done to The Glen and thank-you for the hospitality
